Warren among communities cracking down on fireworks this 4th of July

WARREN, Mich. (WXYZ) - Even though the State Of Michigan had relaxed it's restrictions on fireworks, local communities are still out enforcing ordinances.

Mayor Jim Fouts in Warren says, "Anyone who is intoxicated while setting off fireworks or selling to a minor can face a $500 penalty."

Also, communities such as Warren, Detroit and Dearborn have ordinances such as no setting off fireworks in the street or within 30 feet of a home. Setting them off in a park, school or church parking lot is also prohibited.

"We will have a task force of police, citizens, parks officers and firefighters out enforcing the rules and in some cases issuing tickets as needed" says Fouts.
