WARREN, Mich. (WXYZ) - It's a nightmare scenario for a family in Warren that lost half of their basement in the recent flooding disaster.
An entire side wall of their basement has been washed away, and all of the stuff inside is completely destroyed.
Josh Solmayor and his parents have called as much as they can to get help to remove the water and mud in the basement. They've even had to carry cinder blocks to the curb themselves.
Warren was one of the hardest hit areas during the storm, and they tell us the piping that did all the damage didn't belong to them, but Warren Mayor Jim Fouts has promised to help.
The city says they don't have the resources to help the family rebuild, and they're still waiting for funding from Lansing and FEMA.
The family has already paid their own contractor to install support beams to keep the house from caving in. One problem, is their insurance isn't helping to cover most of the costs.
