WARREN, Mich. (WXYZ) - Warren Mayor Jim Fouts fell while jogging and injured his head early Tuesday, his office said today.
The mayor of Michigan's third largest city, "had mild bleeding in his brain from the fall," according to a statement released by the city of Warren.
Fouts received nine stitches to his forehead and was hospitalized for observation. He was released from Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak this afternoon after an overnight stay.
"In a week, he will undergo a CAT-scan and meet with doctors to determine if the bleeding has decreased or increased," said the city's statement.
During his hospital stay, Mayor Fouts was said to be conscious at all times and even declared a snow emergency for Warren.
The mayor is expected to return to work on Thursday.
