WARREN, Mich. (WXYZ) - Warren Mayor Jim Fouts is talking only with 7 Action News about a video that has surfaced showing the mayor walking in Chicago, holding hands with his executive assistant, Amanda Mika.
The video, posted to YouTube, suggests that the mayor's assistant received a pay raise for going on the trip.
There is a November 2012 timestamp on the video. At 1 p.m. Friday afternoon, it had about 400 views on YouTube. By 6:30, there were more than 2,500. You can view it in the player below.
Mayor Fouts says the pay raise allegation is untrue. He says Mika and two others were given pay raises, but Fouts says they took on extra duties when the economic development coordinator was on an extended sick leave.
The mayor says these pay raises are temporary. He also says the video is a political attack on him.
In an interview Friday, the mayor denied that he is dating Mika. He said they stayed in separate hotel rooms during their visit to Chicago.
