MONROE, Mich. (WXYZ) - Investigators have released the mug shots of twenty-six people from five different states who are accused of running a massive dog fighting ring out of a garage.
Investigators say the early Sunday morning raid found evidence of dog fighting in a Monroe county garage. The investigators also found dog training equipment including a treadmill.
Five dogs were confiscated at the scene. Two of the dogs were badly injured.
During the raid over $40,000 in cash was confiscated along with a large amount of cocaine, marijuana and one suspect had a handgun.
The Monroe County Sheriff Dept., Monroe County Special Response Team (SRT), U.S. Department of Agriculture, MSP, and the Michigan Humane Society worked together to execute the search warrant in the 500 block of Ida Maybee road.
All the suspects are being held at the Monroe County Jail.
Dog fighting is a felony and if convicted the suspects could face up to four years in jail.
