Once inside the store she confronted one of the staff who also co-owns the market. Wearing a bandanna over her face she demanded money. The female employee recognized the young robber and the three clerks inside were able to wrestle the gun away from the 12 year-old.
After disarming the would-be thief, the store staff held her until police arrived.
Sheriff's deputies say the 9mm handgun was loaded.
Investigators tell Action News the girl stole the gun from a neighbor who was not at home when the weapon was taken. The young suspect apparently knew where the gun was kept and had a key to the neighbor's home.
