PONTIAC, Mich. (WXYZ) - What do thieves do when they try to rob an ice cream truck at gunpoint, but the driver has no cash? In Pontiac this weekend, they stole ice cream instead of money.
A 28-year-old ice cream truck driver called the Oakland County Sheriff's Department this past weekend and reported that his truck had just been robbed.
According to the sheriff's department, the driver said his truck was stopped by two men on Sterling Street, near Baltimore, in Pontiac. The driver said the men demanded money that was owed to them.
The ice cream truck driver reported that one of the men entered the truck and then pointed a handgun at him while demanding money.
A report from the sheriff's department explains what happened next: "The subjects were unable to find the money and instead took an undetermined amount of ice cream and fled the scene in a black car."
Deputies responded to the scene but were unable to find the two suspects or, presumably, the stolen ice cream.
