Highland Township, MI (WXYZ) - An auto service technician was knocked off his feet by a jolt of electricity after a lightning strike in Highland Township.
The LaFontaine Cadillac employee was outside retrieving a vehicle during a thunderstorm just before 12 noon Monday when the strike hit the ground near the man. He was using an umbrella to protect himself from the heavy downpour.
"He said he felt it come through his body and he saw a spark actually from his hand," said John Foglio, sales manager of the dealership.
The man was taken by ambulance to Huron Valley hospital as a precaution. He apparently did not suffer any burns or serious injuries. He was released Monday afternoon.
The man has worked at the company for about three years, according to Foglio. He hopes to be back at work on Tuesday.
