Carjacking at gas station leads to chase, shooting on Telegraph

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WXYZ) - A 26-year-old man was shot by Southfield Police after a carjacking and chase.

Investigators say the Detroit man confronted an 83-year-old man at a Marathon gas station at 10 Mile and Telegraph Monday afternoon.

The suspect then took off with the man's white Cadillac.

A police officer in an unmarked car saw the incident, and followed the suspect. Other officers were called in but the suspect refused to stop.

After a short chase, police intentionally crashed into the suspect so he would stop. He then tried to run and police shot him.

He is expected to be okay and could be released from the hospital as early as today.

The victim, from Southfield, was not hurt.
