Family and friends honored the memory of 21-year-old Jessica White at a vigil in Troy on Thursday.

The crowd gathered after 7:00 p.m. at Robinwood Park.

Dozens of people shed tears, lit candles and leaned on another, remembering a life cut too short.

One of the youngest mourners was 10-year-old Hailey Hess.

"I thought of her as a sister and then Jordan had to take her away and I only remember her for a month,”  said Hess.

Jessica White was Hailey’s babysitter, and she has fond memories of their time together.

"She wasn't even mean to anyone, she didn't deserve that,” said Hess.

Childhood friends of Jessica said they still can’t believe this happen

"Used to have fun a lot and just can't believe she's gone.  It's hard to imagine someone who is just the same age as you,” said Courtney Sleeper, a longtime friend.

"She would stay the night at our house and we'd have little sleepovers when we were in elementary school and we all grew up together,” said friend, Lizzy McAlkich.

There is a memorial fund set up in Jessica’s honor.
