ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) - A 44-year-old man from Kansas is facing serious charges after a hit-and-run crash in Oakland County on January 28.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Department Steven Keith Fulton was driving drunk with his 13-year-old son in the car when he rear-ended another vehicle on Lapeer Road in Orion Township.
The victim told Sheriff's deputies that she was hit by a Toyota with a Kansas license plate. The vehicle was located with heavy front-end damage off of Lapeer road.
The deputy observed two people inside the vehicle. Fulton and his 13-year-old son who is from Michigan. Both were not wearing coats or shoes in sub-zero temperatures. Both reportedly showed signs of being intoxicated.
A breathalyzer revealed Fulton had a .28 blood alcohol level and his son registered a .13 BAC.
The boy was released to his mother who arrived at the scene.
Sheriff's detectives report that Fulton rented a room at the Palace Inn on Lapeer Road. He reportedly purchased alcohol for his 13-year-old son and two 16-year-old girls.
One of the teen girls told authorities that Fulton made sexual advances toward her. Upon investigation, it was determined that Fulton was also being investigated in Kansas City for inappropriate sexual advances on an 11-year-old victim.
