Financial review team heading to Pontiac School District

PONTIAC (WXYZ) - A financial review team will visit the Pontiac School District Monday.

The district has a deficit of $25 million.

$15 million of that needs to be cut by June.  The move does not necessarily mean the state will step in to take over the district.

The teachers' union has told 7 Action News having an emergency manager make decisions for the district is something they don't want to see happen.

The union will be meeting with the financial review team to let them know they are willing to take concessions.

Two weeks ago, more than 90 employees in the district including 38 teachers were laid off.

The need to make deeper cuts could mean more layoffs.
