FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., (WXYZ) - Family, friends and colleagues packed St. Fabian's Catholic Church Wednesday for the funeral service for Robert Cipriano, the Farmington Hills father who was allegedly beaten to death by his son.
Police say Cipriano died Monday, April 16, after his son Tucker and Tucker's friend Mitchell Young broke into the Cipriano family home and beat him to death with a baseball bat.
Cipriano's wife, Rosemary and 17-year-old son Salvatore were sent to the hospital in critical condition. The Cipriano family released a statement Friday saying the two were showing signs of improvement but remain in critical condition.
Both Tucker Cipriano and Young were charged with Premeditated Murder and Felony Murder last week. They were also charged with two counts of Assault with Intent to Murder and one count of Armed Robbery.
Police are investigating the claim that Tucker Cipriano was high on the synthetic marijuana K2 at the time of the incident.
A preliminary hearing date has been set for May 23 at 2 p.m.
Donations for the family may be made to the Cipriano Children's Trust in care of McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 West Twelve Mile Road, Farmington Hills, MI 48334.
