Police believe arson is to blame for a fire at a detached garage under construction on Northshore Drive.
The flames were discovered around midnight Tuesday, October 25 by a work crew driving in the area.
They called 911 to report the fire. One worker alerted the sleeping homeowners while two others started spraying the garage with the garden house to slow the spread of the flames.
The Orion Township Fire Department responded quickly and put out the fire.
An arson investigator from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office discovered evidence of accelerants in the ruins of the garage and determined the cause of the fire to be arson.
