AUBURN HILLS (WXYZ) - While other companies struggled to survive the economic crisis in 2009, Gardner-White recorded its best year of sales. It's one reason why the company is celebrating 100 years in business.
"One of the other keys to surviving in the retail business, besides taking care of your customers and delivering value, is that you have to be willing to change because the market is always changing," said Steve Tracey, the company's president.
That strategy seems to be working. Over the summer, Gardner-White will move to Auburn Hills into a 450,000 square foot warehouse, which will house a distribution center, retail shop and outlet store. The furniture store currently employees 400 people, but will need to add as many as 200 positions to meet its expansion needs.
Gardner-White will hold a job fair on Thursday, May 17 and Friday, May 18 from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Auburn Hills warehouse at 4445 N. Atlantic Road.
