Investigation leads to shutdown of Snookers in Utica and changes in state's poker room regulations

UTICA, Mich. (WXYZ) - 7 Action News has obtained the state's investigation findings that led to the shutdown of Michigan's largest poker room - Snookers in Utica.

The Snookers' Poker Room is NOT connected to the Snookers Pool and Pub locations in Livonia and Eastpointe.

The two page document is posted below.

7 Action News has also learned that the state is now limiting the number of charities that can be selling chips inside poker rooms to 3 and no new poker rooms are being allowed to open.

Michigan requires owners of poker rooms to partner with registered local charities to hold games. They split the profits 50-50 by taking a rake - a portion of poker pots.

Charities can make thousands of dollars a week. With the new limits, many charities are being shut out of the poker games.
