Jolly Pumpkin is partnering with Bastone Brewery to open a second metro Detroit location.
The new Jolly Pumpkin will be opening in Royal Oak and the corner of Main and 5th streets. The building is currently the home of Bastone and Vinotecca Wine Bar.
Those locations will close in mid-May to prepare for the transformation into Jolly Pumpkin. Once completed, the space will have seating for 210 people inside, with room for an additional 40 on a seasonal patio.
As part of the transformation, Bastone will move into the space currently occupied by Monk Beer Abbey. They will also refocus the menus on Belgian cuisine and beer.
Monk Abbey and Craft Royal Oak, the nightclub in the basement, will remain open throughout the renovation.
The renovated space will have seating for 60 people, with space for an additional 36 on the seasonal patio.
This is the second attempt to bring Jolly Pumpkin to Royal Oak. The first attempt failed due to building permit issues in 2013.
