(WXYZ) - Kalamazoo College says a 19-year-old sophomore has died due to complications of bacterial meningitis.
Emily Stillman died Sunday morning. She was reportedly from West Bloomfield.
Stillman was taken to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo at around 2:00 am Friday after becoming ill. She was diagnosed at that time.
School officials are providing education about bacterial meningitis and prophylactic treatment for people who came into close contact with Stillman in the week before she was taken to the hospital. '
No additional cases of bacterial meningitis have been reported and school officials say the likelihood of additional cases is very low.
A memorial service was held at a chapel on campus Sunday afternoon. Stillman's funeral has been scheduled for 10:00 am on Tuesday morning at the Dorfman Chapel in Farmington Hills.
