Massive power outage closes all Lake Orion schools Monday

LAKE ORION, Mich. (WXYZ) - Lake Orion Schools announced Monday morning they closed all of the schools after a transformer blew out, causing a massive power outage.

All of the schools followed half-day policies, and were released Middle School first, then High School, then elementary school.

The older kids were let out of school first in case they needed to be home for the younger ones.

Strong winds during the morning blew over trees and knocked down power lines across southeast Michigan, and thousands are still without power.
