ROCHESTER, Mich. (WXYZ) - 'Tis the season for shopping. Small Business Saturday was followed by Cyber Monday and tonight downtown Rochester comes alive with its annual holiday festivities.
The Big, Bright Light Show returns for its eighth year. More than 1 million points of light cover the buildings in the downtown business district.
Beginning at the South Bridge, the holiday lights extend to University Drive. Buildings on Fourth Street from Walnut to Water Street will also be covered with lights.
7 Action News anchor Dave LewAllen will join Santa Claus himself to flip the switch to light up the town tonight at 7 p.m.
Lagniappe is also part of Rochester's annual celebration. Creole for "a little something extra," Lagniappe is what downtown merchants offer to their customers in appreciation for their support throughout the year.
Most stores in downtown Rochester will be open tonight until 9:00 p.m.
The holiday lights will be lit nightly, Dec. 2 through Jan.5, from 5:00 p.m. until midnight, according to Kristi Trevarrow, executive director of the Rochester Downtown Development Authority (DDA).
