ROYAL OAK, MICH. (WXYZ) - Pizza fans are ecstatic over the return of Motor City Pizza Fest. It'll be held Thursday, Aug. 7, in Royal Oak.
Last year, nearly 1,700 pizza fans from all over metro Detroit gathered at the Royal Oak Farmers Market for the tasty food event.
Motor City Pizza Fest is a unique celebration of the region's love of cheesy, saucy goodness. The Pizza fest will take place from 6 pm to 11 pm and will feature live music from acclaimed local cover band The Love Junkies, slices for sale from top area pizza establishments, Michigan brewed beers, a classic car showcase in the west lot, a Best of the Motor City juried pizza competition, a pizza eating competition, children's activities and more.
Participating local pizza establishments will include Detroit Style Pizza, Domino's, Extreme Pizza, Green Lantern Pizza, Hippie's Pizza, Jet's Pizza, Pizza Me, Papa John's, Papa Romano's, Shield's Pizza, and Tania's Pizza.
An esteemed panel of six judges including local television and radio personalities, food bloggers, chefs and the mayor of Royal Oak Jim Ellison will decide the Best of the Motor City in categories like best overall, best deep dish, best thin crust, best gourmet, best vegetable only and best gluten-free. Winners will be announced from the main stage at 9 pm.
Advance discounted tickets online are $10.00 for adults, $7.00 for kids 5 to 12 and free for kids under 5. Adult tickets include vouchers for two slices of pizza redeemable at any of our participating pizza establishments. Paid children's tickets include a voucher for one slice of pizza.
