Oakland County offering free HIV testing in honor of National HIV Testing Day

PONTIAC, Mich. (WXYZ) - Oakland County Health Division will be offering free HIV test with same day results this Thursday, June 26.

The testing is in honor of National HIV Testing Day and will run from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at DMC Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital, Community Education Department, 1 William Carls Drive in Commerce Township.

“There are over a million people living in the United States with HIV, and almost one in six don’t know they are infected,” said Health Division manager/health officer Kathy Forzley in a news release. “Most new infections occur among minorities and young adults. Those with HIV who know their status can take steps to protect others and live longer, healthier lives with early treatment and care.”
