Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard tells 7 Action News he's offering a $2,500 reward for information that leads to the arrest of someone who pointed a green laser light at one of the helicopters belonging to the Sheriff's Office.

The chopper was flying over an area in Commerce Township while deputies conducted a search Monday night.

It happened in the area of Benstein Road and Loon Lake Road.

Deputies say they were targeted with the laser 3 separate times, from a source 3 miles away.

Deputies are searching for the person responsible and warning about the dangers of pointing lasers at pilots flying in the skies.

"Directing a laser at any kind of aircraft is extremely dangerous and will be taken seriously," said Sheriff Bouchard.
