Police catch gas station robbery suspect near Great Lakes Crossing

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (WXYZ) - A wild scene in Auburn Hills was captured only by 7 Action News cameras as police hunted down an armed robber outside the busy Great Lakes Crossing shopping mall.

It happened just after 6:30 pm. The man had just used a gun to rob a BP gas station on Lapeer Rd.

He then led them on a pursuit to Great Lakes Crossing.

"When we pulled in we just saw the cop pulling out with his lights on, and we turned around and there's a cop behind Ruby Tuesdays" says witness Amanda Evanson.

The suspect had ditched his PT Cruiser and gun in the parking lot and took off on foot.

After a couple hours, he was found at a nearby furniture store. A tip from a witness helped lead to his arrest.

"I'm from here and shopped here, and never had any issue before" says Evanson. She's glad police were able to capture their suspect.
