FERNDALE, Mich. (WXYZ) - A Royal Oak Township man is facing three counts of Felonious Assault after, police say, he threatened three women with a gun outside the Ferndale library.
Incidentally, the Ferndale library is right next door to the police department.
The three women told officers that they were in the parking lot at the time of the incident. One of them was waiting for a ride and the two others had just left the library.
They told officers that the man began to accuse them of looking at him wrong. He then yelled and swore at them and then threatened them.
One of the women called 911 to report his behavior. That's when, police say the 29-year-old man went to a pickup truck, grabbed a pistol, pointed it at the women and threatened them again.
Police arrived on the scene quickly and confronted the man. He offered no resistance and was identified as James Wade Reid.
Reid told officers he had a Concealed Pistol License and that he had a gun in his truck. However, he denied taking it out and threatening the women.
Reid, who does have a valid CPL, was taken into custody. He is currently being held without bond and will be arraigned on the charges Thursday afternoon. He faces a maximum of 4 years in prison on each of the charges.
