Police search for suspect in murder of Farmington Hills party store owner

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. (WXYZ) - A search is underway for the gunman who shot and killed a beloved party store owner over the weekend.

The murder happened at Tom's Party Store in Farmington Hills on Inkster Road, just north of 8 Mile.

Police were called to the scene about 12:30 p.m. Saturday after reports of an armed robbery.

Once at the scene, a witness told police he was walking into the party store at the same time that an African American man was walking out. The witness said that once he was inside the store, he saw that the clerk, 59-year-old Duraid Lossia, had been shot.

The suspect in the case is described as 6' tall and weighs about 180 pounds. He was wearing a dark green jacket and a winter hat.

Officers are still searching for the suspect. Police K-9 units and helicopters have been assisting in the search.
