ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (WXYZ) - The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man who is accused of distributing child pornography.
Bruce Howard Fonda of Rochester Hills was arrested after the Boise Idaho Police Department notified the Oakland County Sheriff's Department that a man in Rochester Hills may be connected to one of their local arrests.
According to Boise Police, Fonda sent the Child Sexually Abusive Material to their arrest suspect.
The Computer Crimes Unit began investigating Fonda.
Oakland County Sheriff's Detectives determined that videos were sent from Fonda and were able to positively identify him through profiles on social media.
Fonda is facing several charges including three charges of Distributing or Promoting Child Sexually Abusive Activity and three charges of Use of a Computer to Commit a Crime.
He was arrested on May 7 and arraigned in Rochester Hills.
Fonda was given a $50,000 Cash/Surety or 10% bond and his next court date will be May 20.
If convicted, he could face up to several years in prison.
"The constant presence of predators and pedophiles on the Internet is well known,” said Sheriff Michael Bouchard. “While it is great to catch these individuals, it is also an uneasy feeling that there are many others out there that continue to abuse and prey on children. Once again, law enforcement agencies that collaborated well together allowed closure to this case.”
Fonda had no prior criminal record.
