ROYAL OAK (WXYZ) - A new dangerous dog ordinance takes effect Thursday in Royal Oak.
Your dog is considered dangerous if it has bitten or attacked someone.
If this applies to your dog, you'll need to carry a one million dollar insurance policy.
The law also says dangerous, or "potentially" dangerous, dogs must be kept in a locked pen or fenced yard. Invisible fences do not count.
City leaders enacted the law after receiving 32 reports of dog bites and attacks last year.
