Southfield joins list of cities seeking to regulate sale and distribution of synthetic drugs

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WXYZ) - Southfield is joining other cities in Michigan who are moving to regulate the sale and distribution of synthetic drugs like K2 and bath salts.

"As the Mayor, a mother and grandmother, I strongly believe that we must stand up against that we know is wrong; anything that would harm our children or our families.  I am proud that the City of Southfield is taking proactive action and stepping up to the plate to combat the harmful effects of synthetic marijuana in order to protect its residents and the community" says Southfield Mayor Brenda Lawrence.

Southfield City Council will review the issue Monday, June 11 at the Committee-of-the-Whole Meeting.

If the city council approves the ban at that meeting, formal action will be taken at the regular City Council Meeting the following Monday, June 18.
