SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WXYZ) - On Tuesday, four new life support vehicles were dedicated to the Southfield Fire Department.
They replaced the previous life support trucks that served for more than eight years.
The cars logged over 800,0000 miles responding to more than 83,000 calls over the years.
The new ones are from International Terra-Star Cab units purchased locally and then sent to Orlando, Florida to be finished.
They are state of the art, complete with power lift stretchers and other technology that will enhance safety for both the patients and the crew.
Three of the old units will be kept as reserve vehicles just in case. The fourth will be sold.
