Police are looking for a thief sneaking into several homes this morning in a quiet Ferndale neighborhood.

She got away, but left a trail of evidence behind.

Ferndale officers were back on scene this afternoon, as they continue searching for a woman who tried breaking into a few homes on Leroy Street.

Gabe Estrada caught the woman in the act, seeing her run away from his back door as he got ready for work this morning.

He was smart enough to take a few photos of the woman's getaway car, a gold colored Chevy Malibu, with no hub caps.

We're told just an hour earlier, around six this morning, the same woman broke into another house and car on the same street.

As for Estrada, she took his house keys, and keys for two cars. He spent the day changing his locks.

Another neighbor gave us a surveillance photo of a woman, who was snooping around houses around the same time, but not matching the suspect's description.

That neighbor believes there could have been two thieves operating in the area.

If you know anything, call Ferndale Police.
