Trees crush pontoon boats, homeowners in Waterford Township clean up after storms

WATERFORD TOWNSHIP - The familiar sounds of storm cleanup filled the air as stunned neighbors surveyed the damage from Sunday night.

"We heard this huge crack," Marlene Blaszczyk described.

Powerful storms left tree limbs and branches strewn across the Pine Lake Country Club in West Bloomfield.

In nearby Waterford Township, leisure summer days on Cass Lake might be over this year for some homeowners, after large trees fell and crushed pontoon boats.

"It was pretty shocking to see this in a matter of ten minutes," Lennie Fine said.

"It was devastating. Anybody could have been killed easily," Blaszczyk said.

Neighbors say they are grateful no one was seriously hurt.
