(WXYZ) - The Oakland County trial of a young man charged with murdering his own mother has resumed.
Prosecutors say 22-year-old Jeffrey Pyne killed his mother Ruth at their Highland Township home in May of 2011.
Ruth Pyne was bipolar and had attacked her son and a younger daughter when she was off her medication.
The mother was found bludgeoned and stabbed to death in the garage.
Jeffrey Pyne graduated at the top of his class in high school and was a biology student at the University of Michigan-Flint.
He denies having anything to do with his mother's death.
Bernard Pyne, the husband and father supports his son.
He and his daughter are expected to testify during the trial that could last two to three weeks.
