Troy police say man in custody in connection with numerous home invasions across Oakland County

TROY, Mich. (WXYZ) - Troy Police say they have arrested a man believed to be responsible for at least 15 to 20 home invasions that occurred across Oakland County.

D'Mario Darrell Thornton is suspected in home invasions in Troy, Rochester Hills, West Bloomfield, Shelby Township and Rochester. Police say he was taken into custody when officers saw him breaking into a home in Rochester Hills.

Officers say, once he was taken into custody, they served search warrants on Thornton's 2009 Cadillac Escalade and his home in Sterling Heights.

Police say they were able to recover a very large amount of stolen property, including televisions, electronics, jewelry, collectibles and currency.

Police say they have traced the property to three home invasions in Rochester Hills, four in Shelby Township, one in Troy, two in West Bloomfield, two in the city of Rochester and two in Novi. However, officers say they are still trying to identify numerous items.

Thornton has been arraigned on one count of Home Invasion in Rochester Hills District Court. He is currently locked up in the Oakland County Jail on $1,000,000 cash bond. He was on parole out of the state of California at the time of his arrest.
