Volunteers needed to clean up flood ravaged homes

OAK PARK, Mich. (WXYZ) - It has been one week since flood waters obliterated the homes of families in numerous metro-Detroit Communities.  Now volunteers from near and far are going to work to help.

The Jewish Disaster Response organization Nechama is one national organization in town.  It has brought in team leaders from around the country. They are looking for volunteers to help move debris, tear down water damaged paneling or dry-wall, and clean up.

At Zev Matthew’s home in Oak Park volunteers were found working on Monday. They helped the family with 10 children get work done at their home much more quickly than the family could have accomplished alone.

“They are the best,” said Matthew. “And keeping by their name. Nechama means to comfort.”

If you are in need of help, or would like to volunteer you can contact Nechama at Nechama.org.
