With Halloween less than two weeks away, you might have noticed some ghostly decorations on homes and ads for haunted houses.

The Orson Starr House in Royal Oak may be haunted all year round.

John Tenney is a paranormal researcher, seen on popular TV shows. We met with him at the Orson Starr House. It's been called one of the most haunted homes in our area.

"When you are doing some kind of paranormal investigation, you always look for a house that has a good history," He explained. "Something you can track back and find out facts and evidence about."

The house was built in 1845 by a farmer and cowbell maker Orson Starr.

Using recording devices and other technology, investigators have learned about several ghosts through EVPs, electronic voice phenomenon.

Tenney said, "It is very intensely strange when you run an analog or digital recorder and you know you are the only person speaking and you hear a reply."

Candace Isaacson is a member of the Orson Starr House Historical Society and is also a Paranormal Investigator.

"We have kids upstairs who like to play," she explained. "They do not do well with men, they do better with woman. We have an older lady that sits around. Every once in a while, somebody spots her, we get a shot of her. Her name is Katherine from what we get in the EVPs. And we also have EVPs of a gentleman downstairs. A very angry little gentleman, from what we understand."

Historical records show the Starr family lost three young children within a week in the home.

"We think that's what's haunting the upstairs," Isaacson said.  "We have people who claim they've been touched. We have people who claim they've been pushed down the stairs."

Candace says a visitor once kicked a ball down the stairs. The woman immediately fell down the steps claiming she was pushed, but no one was behind her.

Could it have been one the kids?

Tenney explained, "They are just trying to to seek out some type of communication between us. I think we can misinterpret that as evil or bad."

He added, "I get the question all the time. 'What's the most haunted place that I've ever been to?' The true answer to that question is the most haunted place in the whole world is the world. They are all around us, everywhere that we go."

There will be a ghost hunt at Orson Starr House Saturday October 22. It's open to the public.
