What is this newest baby at Detroit zoo?

ROYAL OAK, Mich. (WXYZ) - What exactly is this adorable new baby animal at the Detroit Zoo you ask? It's a pudu!

The Zoo's newest addition is a female Chilean pudu fawn. It's the smallest species of deer.

It was born on September 7. This is the fourth pudu to be born at the Detroit Zoo since the species was introduced back in 2008.

"This fawn is a significant contribution to a small zoo population of this unique and little-studied Andean deer," said Detroit Zoological Society Curator of Mammals Robert Lessnau. "She is doing very well and, weather permitting, can been seen daily in the pudu habitat with her parents."

The tiny species of deer has reddish-brown fur and reaches a height of about 18 inches.

The pudu is found in the rainforests of southern Chile and Argentina. It feeds on twigs, bark, buds, fruit and seeds in its natural habitat.
