An 18-year-old woman is dead after a head on collision in Waterford, charges are still pending.

The accident happened on Wednesday after 11:00 a.m. on Cooley Lake Rd. near King James Lane and Cass Elizabeth Rd.

Eightteen-year-old Heather Loeffler died after the minivan she was driving was struck by a Ford 150 pickup truck.

Waterford Police said the driver, a 56-year-old man crossed the center line. He’s currently hospitalized.

Heather’s mother, Kimberly, is simply shattered by the loss of her daughter.

"I want her to come home, I want her to come home,” said Loeffler.

She said Heather loved her family, loved sports and traveling.  She was very athletic and played leagues soccer. She also had plans to go away to college.

"Her smile, her compassion, she had so much compassion, she loved life, she loved helping people and helping the underdog,” said Loeffler.

Waterford Police said they are still investigating, they’ve already issued a warrant for the other driver’s phone.  They expect to hand the case over to the Oakland County prosecutor’s office next week.

It will be up to the prosecutor if any charges are filed.
