HARSENS ISLAND, Mich. (WXYZ) - Firefighters from more than twenty-four area departments assisted in the effort to put out a large brush fire on Harsens Island.
Clay Township assistant fire chief Bob White says crews do not know how the wildfire started.
There were no scheduled burns today on Harsens Island, according to White.
The island is located at the mouth of the St. Clair River, in Clay Township.
The large fire had spread and was out of control. By about 6:30 p.m., fire officials said it was under control and would be put out soon.
No businesses or homes were burned.
