Cashier held up at gunpoint twice in Ypsilanti Twp. store

(WXYZ) - Investigators with the Washtenaw Co. Sheriff's Office are trying to track down a trio of robbers who held up a cashier at gunpoint at an Ypsilanti Twp. Dairy Mart.

"I'm not gonna lie, it's scary to have a gun pointed right at you," says Matthew McGinnis.

He was working early Sunday morning at the Dairy Mart on Textile Road when three robbers, wearing masks and dressed in black, broke through the front door.

They stole cash from the register and even McGinnis' cell phone.

One of the robbers had a sawed off shotgun that he pointed right at McGinnis.

"One said, 'I think we oughta shoot him.' Then the other said, 'we got what we wanted, let's just go'," says McGinnis.

Before the robbers left, they even stole the ATM. They can be seen on surveillance video pushing it out the front door.

Sheriff's deputies found the ATM at a nearby apartment complex later that same night. It had been smashed, but the robbers were not able to get to any of the cash.

The three robbers are believed to be the same guys responsible for another armed robbery at the Dairy Mart two weeks ago. McGinnis was working that night as well and a sawed off shotgun was pointed at him then, too.

'I said, 'Hey I got a family' and one of the guys said, 'I don't care about no family,'" says McGinnis.

Thankfully, McGinnis was not hurt during the robberies, but he's now just hoping those robbers will figure out that what they're doing isn't worth it.

"I'd like for them to be caught," says McGinnis.
