DEXTER, Mich. (WXYZ) - A criminal investigation is under way into a possible threat made by a student on the social networking site Twitter.
According to the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department, a parent notified authorities after reading the tweet on their child's cell phone.
The tweet reportedly came from a Dexter High School student and was considered threatening and inappropriate.
Authorities say the threat was not directed at anyone in particular and there was no indication that any students at Dexter High School were in any danger.
The 10th grade student who sent the tweet is out of school pending the investigation.
Specifics of the tweet are not being released at this time.
