It's a truck traffic nightmare for people who live in the Northville and Sumpter Township areas.

They say garbage and dirt are littering their streets and the trucks don't even belong on some of the roads they're driving on.

People who live in this area are upset. They say the trucks are constantly up and down these roads, leaving behind dust and debris from a landfill just about a mile away.

Now there's a proposal to expand the landfill – bringing it even closer to their homes.

Trash trucks traveling up and down Napier Road in Northville Township are ticking people off.  The dirt and debris in the trucks are going to Arbor Hills Sanitary Landfill on 6 Mile.

Washtenaw County says the company who owns the landfill, Advanced Disposal, has requested to expand it.

But Bruce Leonard, who is part of Stop Arbor Hills, an organization aimed at stopping the project before it even begins - says the noise and safety concerns are things that should not be ignored.

Video he took with his cell-phone showd dust from a moving truck, down the street from his front door.

He says the trucks have a designated route - but don't always stay in those lanes. Our cameras, captured some of it today.

Washtenaw County says they are looking over the proposed expansion and have monthly meetings for residents to lay out their concerns. Their next meeting is on August 10th.

Advanced Disposal tells us they understand the frustration and will be contacting all of the haulers that use their facility to remind them of the designated truck route.

They say they want to be good neighbors and are willing to work with the community on all of their issues.
