ANN ARBOR, Mich. (WXYZ) - Ann Arbor Police are investigating a third incident regarding alleged criminal behavior by cab drivers.
Investigators say a 23-year-old woman got into a cab in the 1200 block of S. University shortly before 3:30 am, Sunday.
She was allegedly assaulted by a cab driver who touched her thigh and kissed her before dropping her off at home.
The Ypsilanti based Blue Cab company has released a statement about the incident, saying they were contacted Sunday morning by the woman's boyfriend.
Blue Cab says the man who contacted them provided them with the license plate number and that they were able to identify the driver was drove the cab for the woman as an independent lessee who began working for them in January.
The company says there have been no previous complaints about the driver and that he denies the allegations. They also say that they are not aware of any other allegations regarding the company or any other incidents of inappropriate or criminal behavior.
Blue Cab says they are cooperating fully with the Ann Arbor Police Department and their investigation.
The company also says the driver will not be able to lease a taxi from the Blue Cab Company until the investigation is complete.
Ann Arbor Police are also investigating a similar incident that was reported earlier this month.
Police say in that incident a woman left the same area, which is home to many popular bars and restaurants, and got into the taxi alone at around 2:00 am on February 3. The driver allegedly took the woman to a parking lot and sexually assaulted her.
A sergeant with the police department says officers are investigating three incidents involving cab drivers at this time.
