Supporters of the President react to his State of the Union Address

YPSILANTI, Mich. (WXYZ) - Supporters of President Barack Obama hosted more than 2,500 parties to watch him deliver the State of the Union Address.  There were over 75 watch parties held in Michigan, including one in Ypsilanti.

The Ypsilanti Neighborhood Obama for America (OFA) group gathered to watch the speech and applauded for what they were heard in the President's remarks.

"This is a very positive, forward looking speech that he's giving tonight," said Lucy Hayden.  Hayden and others in the group were inspired by the President's vision that continuing into 2012 the economy will get stronger and be built on hard work and not on corporate greed.

"It sounds like the President has a plan.  It sounds like he is addressing the important issues," said Paul Aceves.

It was thrilling for everyone to hear Detroit named as a prime example to other cities of how to build a better economy based on American manufacturing.

"Absolutely, and to see our representatives on there.  It's good to see us coming back here in Michigan," said Aceves. "We've had a tough time."

Yet the group knows there is still a lot of work to be done here in the Motor City.

"We have a long way to go to get back to the Michigan that everyone felt was very productive," said Wilma Gold-Jones.  "So I'm optimistic and very hopeful."

Together they are motivated to struggle for the shared aspirations of their leader and shouted, "Four more years!" near the end of the speech.

President Obama will be in Ann Arbor Friday to talk at the University of Michigan.
