EMU student's death ruled a homicide
Family members talk about Julia Niswender
YPSILANTI (WXYZ) - An Eastern Michigan University student's death remains a mystery, but police have now classified it as a homicide.
Lt. Deric Gress, who is with the Ypsilanti Police Department, says they have been treating Julia Niswender's death as a homicide since the beginning of the investigation.
However, a finalized report from the medical examiner's office that says toxicology results were inconclusive led the department to officially classify the death as a homicide.
Niswender was found dead in her bedroom in the Peninsular Place Apartments on December 11. There were no signs of trauma to her body, and the door to her bedroom was locked from inside.
At this time police have no identified a suspect.
