Washtenaw County (WXYZ) - Two 20-year-old Detroit men are now facing murder and robbery charges in connection to the death of Damarius Reed.
In mid-October Reed, an Eastern Michigan University football star was robbed and shot at his University Green apartment in Ypsilanti. The Chicago native died.
On Tuesday, Kristopher Kaivon Pratt, a 20-year-old Detroit man, was arraigned on open murder, armed robbery, and conspiracy to commit armed robbery charges.
On Sunday, Ed Jemeal Thomas was arraigned on the same charges.
Ypsilanti Police say ballistics and other evidence has tied the men to the crime.
"We are extremely grateful for the work and dedication of the Ypsilanti Police Department and our Department of Public Safety detectives in identifying suspects in this tragic and senseless crime against a wonderful student and inspiring young man," said Eastern Michigan University President Susan Martin in a statement. "The prayers and thoughts of the Eastern Michigan community remain with the family and close friends of Demarius Reed. We will continue to collaborate with the City of Ypsilanti, Ypsilanti Township and the Washtenaw County Sheriff in ensuring the safety and security of our staff and students."
