University of Michigan Police issue crime alert after attempted armed robbery on campus

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (WXYZ) - The University of Michigan Police Department has issued a crime alert after a student reported an attempted armed robbery on campus.

The student was reportedly walking toward the Arch on campus when he was reportedly approached by a man who threatened to shoot him if he did not give up his wallet.

The suspect punched the victim in the face.

A group of men nearby jumped in to help. They reportedly pulled the suspect off of the victim and the victim left the scene.

Police describe the man as a black man in his 20s, about 6' tall with a slim build and was seen wearing a gray long-sleeved baggy jacket, dark-colored cargo-style pants and a gray beanie cap.
