Ypsilanti man murdered by couple in Toledo

Ypsilanti man killed by couple in Toledo - Toledo Police are searching for the body of a Ypsilanti man.

According to investigators, Brian Martin was in Ohio coaching a softball tournament when he was killed by a couple.

Robert and Desirae Strauss are believed to be responsible for the murder.  They are currently being held in Indiana on unrelated charges.

Police believe the pair knew Martin would be in Toledo.   Investigators suspect they hid his body somewhere between Toledo and Indiana after the murder.

A motive is not clear.

According to neighbors, Martin had been living in the Stadium Meadows Apartments for about a year and the describe him as friendly and nice.

Several neighbors told 7 Action News they had not seen Martin in a while.

Police suspect the murder happened a month ago. 

Toledo officers are asking residents to check nearby barns and other properties for clues leading to Martin’s body.

According to neighbors, Martin was heavily into sports at Ann Arbor’s Huron High School. 

As investigators search for more information, those who lived near Martin said their thoughts will be with his family.
"I will be praying for them and I am so sorry that this happened," said neighbor Daisy Kidd.
