CANTON, Mich. (WXYZ) - A 16-year-old boy was shot early Sunday morning outside Canton's After Dark Teen Club. The club caters to customers under the age of 19 and was holding a "Blackout Twerk Party" at the time.
Canton police and fire crews responded to the club's parking lot, located at 8663 N. Lilley Road, shortly after midnight.
Police say one teen boy was shot in the thigh and taken to a local hospital by paramedics.
They say the victim was involved in an altercation with several other teen boys outside the club. One boy fired a gun at the victim whose wounds are not described as life-threatening. The shooter then fled the scene.
Sunday afternoon, Canton police told 7 Action News that no one was in custody in connection with the shooting.
According to a flyer on their Facebook page, the After Dark Teen Club was scheduled to host a Blackout Twerk Party for teens between the ages of 13 and 19.
The club's website says, "Our Security Staff is on duty inside and outside the club the entire night."
The flyer promoting last night's Twerk Party said it was $10 for boys and $5 for girls.
