LIVONIA, Mich. (WXYZ) - A seven-mile stretch of I-96 in western Wayne county is now closed for construction that will stretch into October.
The path includes an area through Redford and Livonia, heading into Detroit.

MDOT officials say you can expect slow traffic on nearby roads until drivers have figured out new routines and traffic lights have been adjusted.
Both directions of I-96 were completely shutdown on Saturday morning.
There are a few detours, including I-94 to the south and I-696 to the north.
You can also take surface streets like Ford Road, Michigan Avenue, and all of the mile roads.
The seven-mile stretch of freeway will remain closed until October.
